Sharp Continues Expansion with Cox Call Center Buy
Sharp Healthcare is expanding its San Diego real estate presence. This time with a former Cox Communications call center.
The healthcare firm purchased 5651 Copley Dr, a 118k SF flex industrial property on nine acres, for $23.6M. The buy comes more than a year after Cox shuttered its call center operations in San Diego in a consolidation into other cities, including Las Vegas, laying off 500 employees. It's unclear as of press time what Sharp's plans are for the facility. The deal was brokered by Savills Studley's Mike Labelle and Bridget Garwitz.
This is the latest real estate move by Sharp, which recently inked a deal for a 100k SF build-to-suit project at the former Hooters restaurant site off West Bernardo Drive. That project is being developed and owned in a JV between HP Investors and Lankford & Associates, and is replacing Sharp's smaller facility at 16950 Via Tazon.
