Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula will begin booking guests on Aug. 28 at its new 568-room hotel, which is part of a $285M expansion program that will bring the resort’s accommodations to 1,090 rooms when completed, making it the largest casino resort in California. In San Diego County, only Harrah’s Resort Southern California is nearly as large, with 1,065 hotel rooms, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The 14-story hotel includes 96 suites and 472 luxury hotel rooms, new restaurants, a two-story luxury spa, 65K SF of meeting and event space, and a 4.5-acre pool complex scheduled to open in April.

Other San Diego County casinos also are expanding. The Pala Casino Spa & Resort plans a $170M expansion that includes a new 349-room hotel tower, bringing its room total to 854. The Sycuan Casino is building a hotel with 300 rooms and suites as part of a full-scale $226M expansion project. In addition, the Viejas Casino & Resort is nearing completion on an all-suites hotel wing with 158 rooms, which is expected to open the end of this month, bringing the resort's hotel accommodations to a total of 391 rooms.
