San Diego has joined opposition to President Donald Trump’s travel ban for people from seven Muslim majority countries. The city council voted 8-1 Tuesday to join the lawsuit against Trump’s executive order prohibiting anyone from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Libya from entering the United States, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a Republican, issued a statement in support of the council’s action.

The lawsuit was initiated by Washington state’s attorney general, Bob Ferguson, claiming the order is unconstitutional. A federal judge in Seattle issued a restraining order temporarily halting the travel ban. The Trump administration appealed to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, but the court upheld the decision.

Since then a number states, cities, social justice organizations and more than 100 corporations have joined the lawsuit or filed briefs in opposition to the ban. San Diego was approached by the City of Chicago after the court ruling to join the amicus curiae brief, according to San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliott.
