S.F. Supervisors Approve Change To Speed Affordable Housing Development
San Francisco's Board of Supervisors passed legislation this week that makes 100% affordable projects exempt from the city's conditional use approval process.
The legislation, which passed 10-1, has been controversial. Developments have to show they're necessary and desirable to pass the conditional use requirement. Removing that requirement for 100% affordable housing development could shorten the process by three to six months, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Opponents worry it would keep the public from commenting on projects. [SFC]
