A SPIRITED EVENING
May 16, 2012
If you like Mike (Covarrubias), here he is again—talking with Millennium Partners’ Sean Jeffries and former 49ers exec Carmen Policy at the City of Hope Real Estate and Construction Council dinner last night. Sean received the council’s top philanthropic honor, the Spirit of Life Award, recognizing his work with Glide Memorial to create affordable housing in the City. (Mike’s a previous honoree.) The evening, which sold out two months early, raised $470k for cancer and diabetes research. The gala at the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco included a silent auction, featuring items ranging from magnums of wine to vacation packages. |
The auction items included a Sonoma bicycle tour slated for Oct. 19—a new fundraiser that the NorCal Real Estate Council has added. Three board members recently geared up for a spin: Heckmann Communications’ Ron Heckmann, Moss Adams Real Estate’s Lillian Chen, and Nibbi Construction’s Joe Olla. The start/stop location will be Benziger Estates winery. (Note to self: California's DWI laws apply to people on bicycles, too.) To sign up for either the 60- or 20-mile loops, call the City of Hope at (415) 369-0370. |
