| We also chatted recently with Boston Properties’ Rod Diehl. His formal title is SVP of leasing, but a good nickname might be Mr. Determination. Rod was in San Diego last week for the ICSC’s Western Division meet. He was getting ready to go home when that massive power outage hit, and Rod found himself stranded at the airport. So what does he do? “I rented a car and just started driving north.” (Btw, he was hoping to catch a flight out of Ontario, not put the pedal to the metal all the way to Fog City.) |

| Back at home, Rod tells us Boston Properties has had a steady flow of leasing activity in both San Fran and the Silicon Valley. “We’re getting deals done and seeing tenants come to the market.” Recent transactions include a deal at One Embarcadero Center with law firm Morris Polich & Purdy—the 4M SF Embarcadero Center is 91% leased overall—and another with NeuroPace down in Mountain View. Apparently, even a San Francisco native can get tired of all that fog. To get away from it, Rod spends as much time as he can in Tahoe. |
