CHOCOLATE, STRINGS, AND 2% VACANCY
CHOCOLATE, STRINGS, AND 2% VACANCY
A whopping 875 people joined us yesterday in The Woodlands(that's 30 miles north of Houston, in case it doesn't sound familiar) for Bisnow's Future of the Woodlands event. The 28,000-acre live/work/play community is the second best-selling master-planned community in the US. What drew the big crowd: a chocolate fountain, a string quartet playing Journey, and top developers discussing how a 2% Class-A office vacancy is spurring spec development. (For those who like to think everything is bigger in Texas, call it 98% un-vacancy.) Energy companies are quickly snapping up that space, following in the footsteps of ExxonMobil(building a massive 3.5M SF campus just south) and Anadarko(expanding its Woodlands HQ with a new 550k SF tower).
