HUMBOLDT BEGINNINGS
Despite the song, a day may not make much difference, but a month is a different story. Case in point: the historic 785 Market St, where HFF just arranged a $20M refi on behalf of Seligman Western Enterprises. Just last month, rumor had it that the building was in distress and the owner was getting calls about it, but we learned today that it wasn’t true. The 93k SF, 18-story office building was built in 1906 as the Humboldt Bank Building. (But even today, well-dressed men still hang out there.) Senior managing director Susan Hill led the HFF team that secured the fixed-rate loan with JP Morgan Chase Bank.

HFF hasn’t stopped there—it just arranged a $60M permanent loan for the nearly 339k SF Plaza at Walnut Creek on behalf of Clarion Partners. Tenants of the two-building office complex in Downtown Walnut Creek (1331 and 1333 N California Blvd) include Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Comerica Bank, Wells Fargo, and Mutual of America. Bruce Ganong and Chris Gandy led the team that placed the fixed-rate loan with Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers.
