NYU'S COMMUNITY CONCENTRATION
August 27, 2012
NEW YORK—The NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate has launched a new community development concentration within its real estate development master's program, graduating its first candidates this academic year. The school has had a popular seminar on community development for the past few years. “So we went for something bigger,” divisional dean Rosemary Scanlon tells us. It'll give students the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of underserved urban communities and distressed towns through three courses: Urban Economic Development(taught by economist Hugh Kelly); Community & Civic Engagement (taught by Corrine Packard, former VP of development for Hudson Yards Development Corp); and Affordable Housing Development. They’ll also participate in an actual urban development. |
