REAL ESTATE CAPITAL
November 15, 2012
The CRE industry must be recovering better than we thought—people are giving away money. Recently, we chatted with Dollinger Properties' Dave Dollinger, right, who just donated $10M to endow the USC Price School of Public Policy?s master of real estate development degree. (That's dean Jack Knott holding the "I gave $10M and all I got was a diploma" commemorative.) Dave tells us the program helped him do his first real estate deal. He also has a degree from UCLA but avoids the cross-town rivalry by having his HQ in Redwood City. Dollinger Properties just finished a 100k SF shopping center in San Jose and is in the process of acquiring its first R&D building in four years, using no institutional money. Part of the reason for the gift is to ?bring back a little bit of the entrepreneurial spirit? to development. |
