Silicon Summit
No one can accuse Allen Matkins partner Sonia Ransom of being a diva, even though she hangs around with them. The land-use attorney is volunteering her time to help guide a young woman?s career in commercial real estate under a mentoring program formed by Northern California Women of Influence, Allen Matkins? Women's Initiative, and an organization called RED (Real Estate Divas).

Yesterday we chatted with Sonia, a 2011 Women of Influence honoree. She's busy obtaining and analyzing entitlements and developing repositioning strategies for a wide range of clients, both end users and developers. She also has clients who've been touched by the elimination of the redevelopment agencies and ?from a standpoint of prudence? reviews contracts to make sure the agencies are following the procedures under the new law. (If we can call The Beatles divas, then "Dear Prudence" should be her ringtone.) In addition, she's working with folks who are acquiring and developing multifamily properties. ?There's a lot of action from the tech companies,? and they're impacting not only office and R&D space but also residential. She's also a land-use counsel for multiple campus expansion projects for a Silicon Valley-based tech firm. You can hear more on April 26 at the Marriott San Mateo, where Sonia will be a panelist on Bisnow?s Silicon Valley Summit. Register here.
