Zendesk's Urban Campus

San Francisco

Zendesk is celebrating its third year of being a mid-Market resident by tripling its footprint in the neighborhood. (When we were three, we discovered Barney. Also a big footprint.) In September, Zendesk inked 73k SF across eight floors at 1019 Market. Zendesk also renewed its 35k SF lease at 989 Market St, where it first moved in in August 2011. The two moves allow Zendesk to begin building "an urban campus within mid-Market," the company tells us. At this point, the additional space will be enough to accommodate its needs.

The cloud-based customer service software company, used by Disney and Gilt Groupe, expects to move in during the spring of 2014 upon completing TIs. The elegant turn-of-the 20th century building has come a long way since it housed department store Eastern Outfitting Co. (Not as far as clothing has. What your wearing is already so 2013.) The 76k SF building underwent a full renovation with new building systems, exposed brick and timber, and 9,800-SF floor plates.
