San Francisco State University started construction on its residence hall, adding 750 units, a dining hall and a student health center. McCarthy Building Cos. and EDHH Architecture put a shovel in the ground last week on the $179M West Campus Green Project on the downtown SFSU campus.
The project includes two all-electric buildings, including one six-story residence hall with 120K SF and the second three-story building with 50K SF.
PEOPLE
Nathan Donato-Weinstein was named San Jose’s new downtown manager, a position dedicated to the economic development of the city’s central business district. He has worked at City Hall for seven years after beginning his career as a business journalist.
LEASES
Texas Instruments will lease 205K of office space in the city of Santa Clara at 4555 Great America Parkway, according to a report by Colliers International.

Yahoo took out more office space in Silicon Valley, leasing 78K SF at The Village, at 391 San Antonio Road in Mountain View. Details of the deal were not disclosed.
Brookfield Properties announced it leased space to seven businesses related to food and arts to occupy buildings at Pier 70’s recently restored Building 12. The building is a keystone for the mixed-used neighborhood under construction along San Francisco’s Central Waterfront.

Silergy Technology, a semiconductor manufacturer, leased 27K SF of office at 2600 Great America Parkway in Santa Clara. The company will use the space as its new headquarters. Cushman & Wakefield Managing Director Alex Lagemann represented the tenant, and the property is owned by Irvine Co.
