Two Bay Area apartment complexes sold for a combined $29.8M in a deal brokered by Transwestern.
The Vermont Hills Apartments in Hayward sold for $19.8M, and the Brightmoor Apartments in San Leandro sold for $10M.
Vermont Hills Apartments is a 64-unit complex with two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium units with balconies and covered parking.
The Brightmoor Apartments is a 42-unit complex with one- and two-bedroom apartments. The complex offers modern amenities, including a community pool.
The buyer and seller weren't disclosed, but there was a high level of interest in the two complexes, according to Transwestern.
Both of the complexes are in unincorporated parts of San Leandro and Hayward, exempting them from local rent control jurisdictions.
PEOPLE
James Escarzega joined JLL as a managing director in its hotels and hospitality group based in San Francisco. He previously worked at a global private equity firm and HFF.
LEASES
Metagenomi will sublease 76K SF of offices from Dynavax Technologies at 5959 Horton St. in Emeryville, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings. Zymergen had subleased the space but terminated that agreement after filing for bankruptcy in October.

Avinger extended its lease at its Redwood City headquarters to 2025, according to SEC filings. The company leases 20K SF at 400 Chesapeake Drive.
FINANCING
JLL arranged $5.2M in acquisition financing for 12 Panoramic Way, a six-story student housing building near the University of California, Berkeley.
