Airbnb Sues San Francisco

Airbnb is not accepting San Francisco’s new registration law without a fight.

The home-sharing company is suing the city, saying the law requiring all providers to register and a $1k/day fine for failing to do so are restraints on freedom of speech, according to Bloomberg.

The law, which passed the Board of Supervisors by a 10-0 vote, stipulates hosts register with the city. At the time of proposal and passage, the company said the law was on questionable ground.

Supervisor David Campos previously told Bisnow he was not afraid of a legal fight with Airbnb. He said at the time the draft had been reviewed by the city attorney. "We are confident it will survive any legal challenge Airbnb throws our way,” he added. [Bloomberg]
