Berkeley's Latest Hotel Trade
Mission Capital's Jordan Ray (here with son Otis) just helped arrange $31.5M in acquisition financing for the Graduate Hotel. Previously known as the Durant Hotel, new owner AJ Capital plans to reposition the hotel in the heart of UC Berkeley’s main campus to cater exclusively to college students. Launched in 2014, the Graduate portfolio consists of 1,355 keys in nine university-anchored markets across the country. Locally, Mission also just handled the sale and financing of a 191k SF office and R&D portfolio in Pleasanton. The hotel was built in 1928 and named after Henry Durant, the first president of UC Berkeley and former mayor of Oakland.
