Plated Picks Union City for West Coast Hub
Gourmet delivery food service Plated just leased a 56k SF industrial building at 2850 Volpey Way in Union City.
The building will serve as the food delivery company's West Coast distribution center. The building is owned by Quality Distributing Co and features 28-foot ceilings, 12 loading docks, and existing freezer/cooler space. It's easily accessible to Interstate 880 and will allow Plated to service their growing customer base. Here is Lee & Associates-Oakland's Victor DeBoer, who repped the tenant with colleague Chris Schofield and Chris Gary from NAI HIFFMAN in Chicago (he was an old colleague of Victor's when he was a broker there). Here's Victor and his wife, Dani, during an unusual 80-degree St. Patrick's Day in Chicago.
Over the last year the tenant rep team worked closely with Plated to find them the right facility to service the West Coast. The requirement originally called for a 15k SF facility. Fast forward 12 months and they are moving into nearly 60k SF--a testament to the rising demand for industrial space by e-commerce companies in the market, says Victor. Launched in June 2012, Plated ships to 95% of the country. Each week, customers choose from seven to nine recipes, with options for meat and seafood lovers, in addition to vegetarians. Kevin Hatcher, Mark Maguire and Nick Mascheroni of Colliers Oakland repped the landlord.
