Stanford Revises Plans for El Camino Real Mixed-Use
Stanford filed a revised proposal with the city on Monday for its mixed-use development at 500 El Camino Real. University officials indicated the change was necessary due to a failed ballot measure that would have curbed commercial growth downtown.
Revised plans for the 8.4-acre site call for 215 apartments, up from the original plan of 170. Office space will now measure 145k SF, down from 199k. The public plaza that was part of the original plans will remain, but has been tweaked as part of the revised proposal. A driveway that was originally scheduled to cut through the center has been scrapped.
Stanford has owned the land that makes up 500 El Camino Real since 1885. The site has been mostly vacant since 2013. [MER]
