SUDA, OliverMcMillan Picked For Oakland Uptown Project
Oakland City Council selected Strategic Urban Development Alliance and OliverMcMillan as its top choice to develop 1911 Telegraph, giving a nod to a mixed-use project with hotel, residential, retail and art space to the city-owned site.
SUDA's Alan Dones talked about the project and partnership at our most recent Oakland event (that's him at the event, left, with CBRE's Mark Kol). Alan says SUDA has made a huge gamble and investment in Oakland and uptown in the past few years, and is working to make sure the vision for the area comes together with affordability.
SUDA is involved in a few big partnerships, including one with Lane Partners where the companies plan to collaboratively develop adjacent parcels at the 2100 block between Telegraph and Broadway.
The partnership behind 1911 Telegraph is another big one, with SUDA joining OliverMcMillan to create a project with a proposed 168-key boutique hotel, 330 residential units, 56,450 SF of retail and 4,480 SF for an arts program.
Alan says OliverMcMillan has the potential to pull together retail for uptown Oakland in a way that will boost local retailers, makers and artists. The project would be wrapped into a 27-story building, with about four times as much retail space as in other plans for the site.
