Warriors Win Key City Vote to Move Ahead on Mission Bay Arena

The Golden State Warriors are moving ahead with their $1B Mission Bay development after a key San Francisco Board of Supervisors vote this week to approve the environmental review and transportation plan for the site of the new arena.

The project, which includes an 18,064-seat arena, office and retail, has come up against opposition from the Mission Bay Alliance, which argues the development would bring traffic and congestion and would be better served as a biotech and healthcare hub, according to the San Francisco Business Times. Following this week's vote, the alliance could ask a court to nullify the EIR for the project in another attempt to halt its progress.

The transportation plan seeks ways to mitigate traffic concerns, from encouraging transit, biking and walking to employing game-day shuttles. [SFBT]
