Mayor Starts Engine On Housing Roadmap

Mayor Ed Lee and his handpicked dream team of housing activists and advocates just published five findings and recommendations to solve the the city's affordable housing problem. The end goal is to inject 10,000 new units of affordable housing in the city by 2020. SF is the most expensive city across California for affordable housing, according to San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development deputy director Kate Hartley, below, at Bisnow's recent Multifamily Summit.

Here are the top three on the to-do list: Preserve affordability in the city’s neighborhoods; direct more funding for the construction of affordable housing; and enable a wider band of households to benefit from affordable housing. One way the city plans to do that is through expanding the reach of Down Payment Assistance Loan (DALP) Programs.
