Former Sutter Health Hospital Site In Presidio Heights Up For Sale Again
The dormant site of the former California Pacific Medical Center campus at 3700 California St. has hit the market, the San Francisco Business Times reports. The property, owned by Sutter Health, was closed down in 2018. It was first approved for redevelopment in 2020, but plans by developer TMG Partners fell through last year after the sales agreement between TMG and Sutter Health dissolved.
The Presidio Heights property is being listed by CBRE Capital Markets.
TMG originally planned to build a 250-unit project at the property, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. TMG was going to demolish most of the existing structures on the site, which included the original hospital buildings. The project was also notable for its expanded parking allowance, which would have included 392 underground spaces and 24 private spaces dedicated to the 14 single-family residences that would have been built at the site.
A property at nearby 3333 California St. in Laurel Heights was also given the green light for redevelopment in 2019 after a lengthy battle for approval. Prado Group plans to develop a 752-unit mixed-use facility there with affordable housing, market-rate units and retail space.
