Mid-Market Plays With NEMA's 'Wall Of Good Looks'
When Crescent Heights, the developers behind the Mid-Market luxury tower NEMA, wanted to give neighbors something special, they chose to create a public art installation called the “Wall of Good Looks.” The project was created on the ground floor of the new residential tower.
The interactive art project allows onlookers to “wear” the costumes of several famous actors, fictional characters and politicians such as Marilyn Monroe, Abraham Lincoln, Darth Vader, Captain America, Mario and Luigi. The company also released custom Snapchat filters for the occasion that allowed visitors to take Snapchat selfies for a limited time.
“Since NEMA first opened, our building has actively looked for ways to immerse itself in the local Mid-Market community,” NEMA property manager Nina Cook tells Bisnow. “Whether you have walked by the building before or are coming across NEMA for the first time, this installation inspires connectivity with your surroundings and is just a fun, good-humored experience that we thought would inspire a smile.”
Crescent Heights positioned the property as an art-centric residence. The building features a public art plaza designed by local artist Topher Delaney. NEMA also hosted the public art display Studio 1 last summer.
“It’s our way of not taking ourselves too seriously while enabling locals, residents and their friends to quite literally reflect on the current moment,” Nina says.
