Middle-Range Retailers Struggle
Don't get caught in the middle. That was Cassidy Turley Western region research director Garrick Brown's message during his presentation yesterday during East Bay CREW's luncheon at the Roundhill Country Club in Alamo. He told the crowd that you don't want to be in the middle; high-end and discount retailers are doing well these days, while retailers appealing to the middle class are struggling. E-commerce is driving industrial as the hottest sector, he says, and the retailers that will succeed in the e-commerce era are those that understand the customer experience and the meaning of the word "service."
