Concord is about to join the Dunkin’ Donuts craze. The city will get one of the first new concept stores that Dunkin’ Donuts is opening in the country. The concept store, called simply Dunkin’, will have similar features to the first concept store in Quincy, Massachusetts, the East Bay Times reports. Another Dunkin’ is expected to open in Pasadena.

The stores will have a tap system with cold-brew coffee and iced tea and an espresso machine. The store includes self-service digital kiosks and an area for mobile pickups.

Dunkin Donuts franchise owner Matt Cobo told the East Bay Times that the new concept store will allow the food and beverage company to better compete in the beverage space. The Concord store also will have a drive-thru.

Cobo has an agreement to open more than a dozen stores in Contra Costa County in the next few years. The Concord store at 4383 Clayton Road will open this summer. Cobo also plans to open a franchise at Pleasant Hill's DVC Plaza on Chilpancingo Parkway and is considering locations in Brentwood, Hercules and Pinole.

Dunkin’ Donuts has been slowly opening locations around the Bay Area, most recently in Fremont. It also has locations in South San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, American Canyon and Walnut Creek.
