Jamestown Seeks To Bring Retail To S.F.'s Pier 29
Jamestown, developer of the Chelsea Market in NYC and Ponce City Market in Atlanta, plans to redevelop San Francisco's Pier 29. The proposal envisions converting the 20k SF Bulkhead Building into a retail center.
The company will negotiate with the Port this summer and likely sign a 15-year lease in October, SocketSite reports. Redevelopment work would begin in November.
The developer's proposal addresses Millennial preferences and sensibilities. The space would sell locally made products and might feature a craft brewery or coffee “roastery.”
Successfully redeveloping oceanfront property such as a pier involves carefully coordinating with city officials, the community and potential clients. Lendlease's West Coast head, Alexa Arena, previously told Bisnow creating a common vision in these projects is absolutely essential for creating vibrant communities. [SS]
