Macy's To Close Two Bay Area Stores In March
Macy’s will officially close its Stonestown Galleria location in San Francisco in March. The department store chain said Thursday it will close the store along with Macy’s Novato Furniture Store and nine other locations in California, Florida, Idaho, Vermont, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The company previously sold its Stonestown Galleria location to General Growth Properties, which owns the Stonestown Galleria. Macy’s then leased back the space in the interim. General Growth plans to turn the Macy’s building into a mix of small stores, restaurants and a movie theater. Macy’s also sold its Union Square Men’s Store in 2016 for $250M to Morgan Stanley, which redeveloped the building into a mixed-use development.
