Point72 Ventures Invests In San Francisco-Based Fintech Firm AlphaFlow
San Francisco-based AlphaFlow received backing from Steve Cohen’s Point72 Ventures during a seed investment round this week. Point72 Ventures and Resolute Ventures led $4.1M in seed investment for AlphaFlow, Bloomberg reports. Other investors include Silicon Valley venture capitalists Social Capital and Y Combinator.
AlphaFlow, which buys debt from lenders and puts it into an automated investment platform, plans to use the funding to build up its team in data science and engineering that would be responsible for analytics and investment algorithms. The company also plans to expand its relationships with more lenders and institutional investors. The platform has invested in 482 loans to date with 305 active, according to The Real Deal. It also launched an automated real estate investment service in March.
Point72 Ventures targets fintech and artificial intelligence startups. Earlier in September, it led $25M in an investment round for Fauna Inc. and the firm also has invested in crowd-sourced hedge fund Quantopian.
