Craig notes that "lending is loosening up," though he says funding hasn't quite reached the same level. Robert's an affordable housing specialist. What's the difference between affordable housing and traditional multifamily? "A layer of government restrictions and government processes to get through," he tells us, adding that there are only a few brokers on the national scale with the right temperment to do affordable housing. Robert, a broker since 1990, got into affordable housing by accident when he did a HUD deal in 1998. One thing led to another, and before he knew it, owners were calling and asking him to sell their HUD properties. |
