Wednesday, Van Ness Feldman and GordonDerr announced their firms are merging in 2012. In Seattle, the firms will need approximately 20k SF for the combined operation and are working out space plans. (Above, Van Ness Feldman?s Rick Agnew and founder Bill Van Ness with GordonDerr managing partner Jay Derr in GordonDerr?s offices.) The new firm will have 175 employees, with 40 in Seattle. It will also have a greater depth of offerings: Van Ness Feldman also has an office in DC and focuses on energy, environment, and public policy, while GordonDerr is renowned for its work in real estate, land use, and environmental law in Seattle. Personal tidbits: Jay is jokingly referred to as one of Washington?s ?gray hair experts? on the Growth Management Act. And Bill originally conceived, then drafted, NEPA (the National Environmental Policy Act...but you knew that).
