OMEROS VISION FOR 201 ELLIOTT
February 6, 2012
Lower Queen Anne is buzzing this week with news of Omeros Corp's 15-year deal to inhabit 65k SF of the Waterfront Research Center at 201 Elliott Avenue. The Class-A building was acquired by BioMed Realty Trust of San Diego in 2004 for $52.9M and has been vacant since a 2009 renovation. Rental was advertised at $49/SF per year, which seems like a steal given that tenants get to brag about working in a big glass Rubik's cube. |
Omeros, which develops drugs to fight diseases of the central nervous system, finally gets its corporate offices and primary research facilities under one roof. Omeros CEO Dr. Gregory Demopulos tells us corporate offices are downtown and the labs are at the Life Sciences Center on First Hill. Omeros, repped by Kinzer Real Estate Services and Pallis Realty Advisors, is not the first medical tenant to choose the building. But, BioMed spokesman Rick Howe tells us, since the entire 151k SF space is currently vacant, "they get to pick their room." View-wise, it will be hard to go wrong: the Waterfront Research Center looks at Elliott Bay to the west and the Space Needle to the east, with the iconic P-I globe and Olympic Sculpture Park to the south. |
