Superheroes Among Us

What's more superheroic than Chris Hansen swooping in to possibly reinstall the Seattle Supersonics? How about a group of businessmen banding together to form the Seattle/King County Arena Business Advisory Committee? |
While the Port of Seattle (and the Mariners) are somewhat anti-stadium, the biz community seems to like the idea. Here's Aegis Living chairman Dwayne Clark, one of the group's nine founders. He tells us "A lot of people think this is just about basketball. This is about economic growth." A new arena, the commission argues, would bring "hundreds" of jobs and spur new development. |
The committee membership roll reads like a who's-who: Nordstrom prez Blake Nordstrom, Amazon SVP Andy Jassy, Evergreen Pacific Parners co-founder T.J. McGill, Eli Lilly VP Nate Miles, Space Needle Corp chairman Jeff Wright, Barclay's prez Eddie Poplawski, MCM founder John Meisenbach, and Holland America Line CEO Stein Kruse. The big objective: providing accurate info about the costs and effects of the a new arena, and supporting Chris "in whatever way we can," Dwayne says. |
