THE URBAN EXPERIENCE
November 22, 2011
Madison Development Group principal Jim Gallaugher tells us he's building 78 apartment units adjacent to the Safeway in the Admiral District of West Seattle. Element 42 is almost done (ready for occupancy next month) and is made for the working urbanite. The options: studios, one bedrooms, and open one bedrooms with sleeping alcoves, ranging from 420 SF to 660 SF (we're thinking we could fit a Volkswagen in one). He didn't give us a cost but it's definitely a walking community. And it's a local-developer-does-good story, too. The Safeway store has been in the Admiral community for 50 years and over that time has been expanded and remodeled twice. So when the first development partner in the Safeway project couldn't find project funding, Madison Developmentstepped in to make it happen. |
