The Bulls of South Lake Union
Naturally, some parts of the greater Seattle will benefit more than others. "South Lake Union continues to see tremendous momentum with Vulcan and others developing thousands of residential units and several new office and life sciences buildings,” Vulcan VP for real estate Ada Healey tells us. “We expect additional leasing and groundbreakings to occur throughout 2014 and feel quite bullish."
The future of South Lake Union’s also going to be even greener, with Vulcan leading the way. Just as 2014 got underway, Vulcan completed its two-building Stack House Apartments and the Supply Laundry Building historic landmark renovation, which began two years ago. The 106-year-old Supply Laundry Building, for instance, now features bio-filtration swales and cisterns to collect rainwater for site landscaping and rooftop urban agriculture, along with energy-efficient windows, high-efficiency air source heat pumps, and onsite Zipcars.
