Simon Property Files Early Design Guidance Submittal For Northgate Redevelopment
Simon Property Group filed a 50% Early Design Guidance submittal with the city of Seattle Thursday that begins to outline the company’s plans for Northgate Mall. So far, the plans are calling for 1,200 residential units, as well as public gathering spaces and heavy use of the newer light-rail station.
The company released a statement that said it was encouraged after it had submitted a partial plan to the city about the “reimagining” of the Northgate Mall property. The company plans to have a completed application submitted within 30 days.
Simon Property Group filed an application for redevelopment with the city of Seattle March 8.
The preliminary plans call for a mixed-use development that will retain 500K to 700K SF of retail space and add 500K to 750K SF of Class-A office space. Residential units and hospitality businesses will also be included. Green and public space are key components of the development, as is the planned light-rail station.
