Northgate Mall Redevelopment To Include Hundreds Of Residential Units, 500K SF Of Office Space
With the Northgate area growing and light rail on its way, Simon Property Group is poised to undertake a major redevelopment of Northgate Mall that will include housing and Class-A office space.
Simon Property Group filed an application for redevelopment with the city of Seattle March 8, but expects the approval process to take months.
If plans are approved by the city, the company will launch its long-range vision of mixed-use development that was put into its 20-year-old development agreement.
The company plans to retain 500K SF to 700K SF of retail space and add 500K SF to 750K SF of Class-A office space that would compete with South Lake Union and Eastside office developments.
The development will also include several hundred units of housing, as well as hospitality businesses.
Green space and public space, which will be accessible to the community, are key components of the development. It will allow local residents to exit the train station and commute though the Northgate area.
