Skanska's 2+U In Downtown Tops Out
The 38-story 2+U building topped out Tuesday, marking a major milestone for the central business district project. The building is on the corner of Second Avenue and University Street, adjacent to the Seattle Art Museum and Benaroya Hall.
The building is lifted 85 feet off the ground to create a pedestrian-friendly space under the building. The covered area will feature 24K SF of retail, arts and cultural space and the designers hope it will serve as a connection between the new waterfront, Pioneer Square and the rest of the downtown area.
The 684K SF, Class-A office tower is expected to be complete in July. The project team includes Skanska as the developer and construction manager, Pickard Chilton as the design architect, Kendall/Heaton Associates as the architect of record, Graham Baba Architects as the retail designer, Swift Co. as the landscape architect and Magnusson Klemencic Associates as the structural engineer.
