Washington's Economy Best In The Nation
Washington state tops the list of states with the best economic climate, according to a new ranking by WalletHub, edging out California, Utah and Massachusetts. Washington state tops all the others for economic activity, and is near the top for economic health and innovation potential.
WalletHub’s analysts compared the 50 states and D.C. across 27 key indicators of economic performance. The data sets include gross domestic product growth, startup activity, share of jobs in high-tech industries, exports per capita and patent holders per 1,000 people.
The health of a state's economy is no small consideration for commercial real estate growth, which is partly dependent on being in a state with an economic climate that fosters growth.
Some larger states are in the middle of the pack by WalletHub's reckoning, such as New York at No. 19, Texas at No. 20 and Florida at No. 22. At the bottom (Nos. 49 to 51) are Mississippi, Louisiana and West Virginia.
