Unico Remaking Market Place I & II
Unico Properties recently kicked off its repositioning of the 151k SF mixed-use Market Place I & II (131k SF office, 20k SF retail), adjacent to Pike Place Market, Victor Steinbrueck Park and the to-be-constructed Overlook Walk. The work will add more than 10k SF of ground-floor retail to the property. Unico VP and regional director Andrew Cox tells us Cutters Crabhouse—a destination restaurant for years—will remain, while the newly created retail will augment the offerings available to building tenants, the public and the neighborhood.
The new space will also boast unobstructed views of Elliott Bay and an improved connection to the market, Andrew says. Since acquiring the project two years ago, Unico's plan has been to invest in upgrades to the building both operationally and aesthetically, to enhance its appeal within the boutique Pike Place Market submarket, he adds. With recent leasing, the office space is 95% occupied.
