Massive Concrete Pour Pushes Forward Denny Triangle Transformation

Mortenson Construction crews poured 4,500 cubic yards of concrete on Saturday (shown) to form the foundation of the AMLI Residential Apartment Tower in Denny Triangle, which is being developed by AMLI Residential and Mortenson Development (it's enough concrete to fill one and a half Olympic pools, for a really leisurely swim). “The pour marked a major milestone, not only signaling the start of vertical construction, but the evolution of the Denny Triangle area,” says Mortenson Construction VP John Nowoj.

The tower at 1812 Boren Ave will include 393 units, and be on the same half block as the 220k SF Tilt49 office tower being developed by Touchstone, URG and Principal Real Estate. The projects mark a sea change for Denny Triangle in its evolution from surface parking lots and auto service centers to Class-A office buildings, hotels and apartments. AMLI and Mortensen are targeting LEED Gold for the residential tower, which is slated for completion in 2017.
