Seattle Top For Fourth Of July Celebrations
The average US household is expected to spend more than $370 celebrating Independence Day—something for retailers and restaurants to keep in mind as people buy hot dogs, chicken, beef and beer—and Seattle is the best place in the nation for July 4 celebrations, according to a report by WalletHub.
Specifically, the company evaluated how well the 100 largest US cities balance holiday cost and fun, using 16 key metrics such as walkability, fireworks-show duration, three-star hotel prices, traffic congestion and the weather forecast.
Seattle came in fifth for weather, eighth in accommodations and food service establishments per capita, and 10th in walkability (but 53rd in traffic congestion). Minneapolis; New Orleans; Washington, DC; and Portland, OR, came in second through fifth on the overall list.
