Sandis' Office Amenity: Brewing Beer

Sandis is taking office amenities to the next level for its new spot in Campbell. When the firm isn't working on massive projects like Levi's Stadium, it's brewing beer in-house. Bisnow stopped by the new space to see what's on tap.

At the office opening party, the firm handed a check for $5k to Operation: Care and Comfort, which helps military families and troops overseas. We snapped president Ken Olcott (left) with VP Jeff Setera and reps from the charity—not to mention Ken's old-school Jeep in the background with a Sandis decal. Sandis turns 50 this year, which is just a bit younger than the 1957 wheels he just got. Clients and friends from all market sectors and specialties in the construction industry turned out for the party.

After moving into the new office, Sandis set up a homebrew tap room in a spare conference room. The idea stemmed from some employees moonlighting as brewers. Last winter Sandis gave out six-packs of their homemade brew as holiday gifts, which grew the brewing operation from a hobby for some to an activity the entire company now enjoys. Beers on tap that night included IPA, Coffee Porter, Blood Orange Wheat, Double IPA and Golden Belgium Strong.

Sandis' founder, Tim Sandis, passed away about a decade ago, but his legacy lives on. Here are some framed doodles the art aficionado used to do at his desk.

Guests watched the Sandis team perform a UAV (drone) surveying demo in the parking lot; they've recently added UAVs to their large surveying department of 22 crews and 20-plus office staff. Inside, the Sandis 3D Laser Scanning department had a real-time 3D laser scanning demonstration, where guests could watch the room be scanned and see the results.

Projects in the team's portfolio include the BART connection to Oakland International, Stanford’s New Medical Campus, and multiple new tech campuses in Silicon Valley, in addition to Levi's Stadium. Check out this video of the construction.
