Mountain View Approves Adding Housing To North Bayshore Business District
The Mountain View City Council has approved adding housing in the North Bayshore business district that would bring more high-density housing to the city. City council will review the plan again in April.
The plan would create up to 10,250 units of high-density housing, which could add around 32% more homes to the city. It's an added bonus for Google, which has its HQ in North Bayshore and has wanted more housing nearby, according to Vox.
In 2014, the city council approved a North Bayshore plan that would allow more office, but no new housing. Under the new plan, residential buildings could reach 12 stories at the center and up to five stories at the edges. The plan also encourages mixed-use development.
The Sobrato Organization submitted plans (above) at the beginning of this year that would add market-rate and affordable housing in the North Bayshore district. [Vox]
