Apple can move forward with plans for an 86-acre campus in North San Jose now that the San Jose City Council unanimously approved an updated development agreement this week. That's an aerial shot of North San Jose, above, which saw a lot of activity last year and keeps drawing in tech companies.
Apple's property lies north of the 101 and near Highway 87. The North San Jose campus could be up to 4.15M SF of office, research and development space. Apple has up to 15 years to add buildings to the site under the approved entitlements, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
City leaders praised the project, which could ultimately bring 16,000 to 20,000 jobs to the area. More than 1,000 employees are expected to move into existing buildings on the site in the coming months. Apple says around 25% of its employees already live in San Jose, calling the site ideal. Apple has more than 25,000 employees and 100 buildings in the Bay Area. [SJMN]
