Facebook Adds 225K SF To Its Silicon Valley Footprint
Facebook has added another 225K SF to its real estate footprint. The social networking giant will occupy one of the two office buildings leased to WeWork at The Village at San Antonio Center in Mountain View, the Silicon Valley Business Journal reports. WeWork took over LinkedIn's lease for the entire 450K complex last year.
Facebook will take up an eight-story building at 401 San Antonio Road. The company was originally in negotiations to take the entire 450K SF office complex, but Facebook has been rapidly leasing property throughout Silicon Valley and its needs changed. Facebook did not indicate which division it will move into the new building nor how many people would work there.
The second building at 391 San Antonio Road will open in early December as co-working space with a ground-floor eating and gathering area open to WeWork members and the public. The entire complex has a capacity for 7,000 employees.
The Village at San Antonio Center was designed by Merlone Geier Partners and includes 330 residential units and 100K SF of retail, including a grocery store, which was built as part of the first phase. The second phase included the office buildings as well as a 168-room Hyatt Centric Village Hotel, a parking structure and additional retail. The second phase is expected to deliver this year.
