Columbia Property Trust has completed an outdoor amenity space at the 451K SF University Circle in East Palo Alto. The outdoor event and gathering area, dubbed the Circle, is surrounded by three office buildings and the separately owned Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley.

The new amenity space, which was completed in April, provides tenants with a large lighted trellis structure with seating and a food service area, an outdoor fireplace and televisions, new greenery and a walkway suspended over the campus’s reflecting pool. Tenants have already been using the space and are scheduled to host several community events, including Silicon Valley’s GranFondo bicycle race in June.

The campus is fully leased to a mix of tech, legal and financial tenants, including DLA Piper, which recently renewed its 119K SF lease, Amazon Web Services and NTT.

Several other campuses around Silicon Valley have undergone renovations to include more outdoor amenities. In Milpitas, Hudson Pacific Properties renovated the 471K SF Campus Center to include a master-planned outdoor area with a cricket field and a basketball court, open-air collaboration areas, dining terraces and dedicated recreation areas.

Microsoft’s Mountain View campus modernization will incorporate indoor/outdoor spaces as well as sustainability and wellness features.

Orchard Partners renovated its Tasman Tech campus in Milpitas to incorporate eco-friendly landscaping and outdoor gathering and amenity spaces. New campuses such as Coleman Highline, Illumina's Foster City campus and Apple Park also incorporate outdoor space and amenities.
