Located in the Presidio near the Golden Gate bridge, Planet Granite offers not only climbing, but also some moments of mindfulness in its yoga studio. If you are new to climbing, you'll need to fill out a waiver and take a belay test.

Sports House, a converted former beer distribution warehouse, doesn't just give you a chance to get your game on, but it also has an on-site restaurant for burgers, pizzas, salads and more. We'd suggest you save the eating until after your CrossFit class, though.

Size: 25k SF arena with an ice rink of 185 feet x 85 feet
Sports: Ice skating (public and lessons), ice hockey (pickup and league play)
Snoopy's Home Ice has been around since 1969 and puts skating fun right across the street from the Charles M. Schulz Museum. Don't let the name fool you. It's a serious ice arena. Schulz designed and built the arena with his first wife.

Sports: Roller hockey, indoor soccer, martial arts, badminton, roller derby and pickleball
While some of the offerings are for league play, Silver Creek Sportsplex is available on a drop-in basis for members and nonmembers. There's a restaurant here as well, and you can host birthday parties with inflatables for the kids.

Sports: Just one—indoor skydiving (isn't that enough?)
Get your kicks by jumping into iFLY's 12-foot, 1,000-horse power vertical wind tunnel and doing your skydiving parachute-free.
SurfXtreme Indoor Surfing
Location: 3443 Laguna Blvd, Elk Grove
Size: Surfing plus a 24k SF trampoline area
Sports: Indoor surfing; also, trampoline and paintball (though that one's outdoors)
You have to drive a bit inland for this one, but if the weather is keeping you from the waves, SurfXtreme is one way to try out your surfing skills.
Location: 1631 Challenge Dr, Concord
Sports: Trampoline fun, dodgeball, foam pit (like the one you loved jumping into as a kid)
