Council Prefers Housing at Busy Palo Alto Intersection
After three years, Palo Alto council members now say they would prefer housing at the busy intersection of El Camino Real and Page Mill Road. Pollock Financial Group had originally pitched a mainly commercial project for the site at 2755 El Camino Real.
The developer’s first proposal included a four-story building with 24k SF of commercial space, 109 parking spaces and four residential units. The council suggested building as many residential units as possible and to consider prohibiting tenants from owning a car.
The intersection is one of the busiest in Palo Alto, impacting the viability of a residential project according to Pollock. The developer has offered to provide $2.6M of voluntary benefits, including widening Page Mill Road. [Mercury]
