Move Over Apple And Samsung, China’s LeEco Is Coming To Silicon Valley
LeEco officially launches its US operations today and plans to employ 12,000 in Silicon Valley. The Beijing-based tech company will bring its online streaming services and smartphones, such as above, to the US this fall, reports the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
The company purchased a 48-acre site in Santa Clara from Yahoo earlier this year for $250M. The site now serves as a parking lot for nearby Levi Stadium events. The open campus will provide a gathering spot for the community to listen to live music, play sports and collaborate with the company.
LeEco has offices in San Jose, Santa Monica, San Diego and Bellevue, WA. The company employs over 500 in the US and is expected to employ up to 1,000 in San Jose by the end of the year. [SVBJ]
