2013's Banner Deals
Ask Cushman & Wakefield CEO Scott Chandler about the most noteworthy trends for 2013, and he'll point just outside his Toronto Central office door at 33 Yonge St. (Limit your excercise while you can, as the new year diet crunch is coming.)
It's hard for us to look beyond two huge lease deals C&W was involved in this past year—Ernst & Young and The Globe and Mail—that in Scott's view, "helped perpetuate urbanization and downtown revitalization in Canada, probably the most noteworthy trend of the past few years." Ernst & Young is moving into Oxford's new 100 Adelaide West tower, while The Globe and Mail will make its new HQ at First Gulf's 550 King St E building, both well into construction.
On the investment side, Scott tells us the continued robust market, even with an increase in bond yields, "demonstrated the strength of demand and abundance of capital for quality assets in this country."
